It works like this:
If you want to see all classmates from a particular year, enter that year (eg: 1975)

Let's say you are looking for someone by name, Debbie "something or other"...

If you are TOO EXCLUSIVE in what you type, you may NOT get any search results...
for example: a search for Debbie will NOT find a match for Debi Hart... and vice versa.
To bring back the largest (least exclusive) result set, just search on DEB,
which will match on Deb, Debbie, Debra, and Deborah.
